Heart of Gold Awards 2016

Casey Ann Bird is nominated as this year’s Heart of Gold Ambassador at Water Mill House Care Home.

Casey Ann Bird, a care home administrator at Water Mill House, has won a Heart of Gold Award at a ceremony on 26th November. Casey has worked at the care home since 2015.

The Awards seek to recognise employees for their dedication and commitment in providing high quality care and compassion to all the home’s residents.

Christine Thomson, manager of Water Mill House said, “Everyone who works in a care home has a passion to care. Casey is a shining example of someone, who whilst not directly providing care, puts our residents and team at the forefront of everything she does – and all with the most amazing smile. We are delighted she is this year’s Heart of Gold Ambassador. Well done Casey”.

Casey was presented with a Tiffany necklace to commemorate her success by Alnur Dhanani, Chairman of Carebase.

Nominations for the award came from residents and their relatives, co-workers, social workers and local health professionals. Casey was chosen from the list of nominations by a panel of previous Heart of Gold award winners from all the other homes in Water Mill’s group.

Casey said, “I am really honoured to be this year’s Heart of Gold ambassador and that I am appreciated and valued in this way. It shows you that something very little, like a happy smile, can go a long way to making a difference to people. Thank you to everyone at the home for all you do to support and reassure me in my job”.

Altogether there were 39 nominees for the award at Water Mill and all nominees received a Heart of Gold lapel pin.
