Water Mill House is a happy and supportive workplace that recognises and rewards exceptional care. We have 90 dedicated team members – many of whom have been with us since we opened in 2014.
The stability of our team ensures we know each other and our residents very well. Everyone works together to ensure the highest standards of care, going above and beyond to meet the needs of our residents.
Here, we don’t just look after each other and our residents – we treat them like family.

Our 65-bed home in Hemel Hempstead is a beautiful, luxurious environment set over three-floors with landscaped gardens. We offer a variety of roles, including carers, nurses, front of house, catering, maintenance and lifestyle coordinators. We are passionate about inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals and welcome students pursuing health, social care and nursing qualifications to join us for work placements. Our supportive environment offers an invaluable learning experience with opportunities to build relationships with our team, residents and their families.

👟 Please wear appropriate sportswear — no excuses, we’ve got our PE kit inspectors watching! 👀😂
📣 2:30pm – Assembly with Headmistress Mrs Forsythe

🎓 Dress appropriately and, most importantly… PLEASE BE ON TIME! ⏰
📋 Please refer to your timetables, distributed this week and proudly displayed on the walls throughout Watermill House.
No skiving, no late passes and absolutely no “I didn’t know!” excuses! 🤣

🚂💨 SSSSSSTEAM WISH WEDNESDAY! 💨🚂
This weeks is Alan’s wish really got up a head of steam as he was reunited with his beloved Cowslip! ❤️
Cowslip is a working model replica of an 1899 steam car, known as a Locomobile, and what a rare little beauty she is! 🌟
Alan meticulously assembled her over several years from a kit supplied by Steam Traction World — with only 30 kits released worldwide! 😲 Making Cowslip a very special and rare piece indeed.
Weighing in at just under a tonne, she has been lovingly painted with help from Alan’s daughter Clare and grandson Joshua. 🎨❤️
Cowslip recently made an appearance at our Car & Bike Fest 2, where we secretly arranged a rather special surprise for Alan… that day, we brought the steam-powered reunion back! 🥹🔥
There were smiles, memories and, of course… plenty of SSSSSSSTEAM conversations! 💨😂

📚🍂 September’s Special Activities at Water Mill House! 🍂📚 September is packed with fun, learning, outings and plenty of opportunities to socialise! 🚌🎨🎶 From Golden Oldies Bingo and lunch, ice cream trips and blackberry picking to our Back to School Week with PE, assembly, art, cookery, maths, English and geography lessons. 🏫✏️ We’ll also be celebrating Heart of Gold Day with a World Cup 2026 theme, celebrating equality and diversity. ⚽🌈 There’s a Buddhist Monastery visit, Wish Wednesday Namaste Lounge lunch for Dinkar, Captains Table, a trip to Willow Farm, Performing Pets, our Caring Circle for families and, of course, live music from Georgia Conway in the Bistro! 🎤🐾❤️ Another month filled with laughter, learning, friendship and making wonderful memories together! 😊🍂
