We came to Water Mill House to have lunch with my brother. We were greeted and met with great courtesy and had a coffee in the Bistro. The ambiance was lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful. Lunch was wonderful, tasty and beautifully presented. Our experience was very positive and I feel my brother is in excellent hands.

The nursing team and carers cannot do enough for Mum. The weekly doctor’s visits and the attention to detail has been amazing. A 5-star experience for our beloved mum. Thank you to the manager and the team, you really have lived up to your promises.

Resident’s daughter

Mum is so much more active and is busy going on outings, joining in using her walker, things that were not happening previously. Highly recommend.

I could not wish for a better place to for my husband who has late stages of Parkinson’s. The care and kindness from every member of staff is unbelievable. They give him his dignity, but health and safety always comes first. I don’t know where we would be without Water Mill Care Home.

Wife

I can’t describe my sense of gratitude that our brother is being cared for with such compassion and diligence. The care home both cares and is a real home. We were served the most delicious lunch and treated as real family members, not tiresome visitors. 5 stars all round!

Water Mill House is a lovely care home with very good facilities and kind and welcoming staff. They have been unfailingly kind and supportive to me and my husband, who has used the day centre service for nearly a year.”

Resident’s wife

My mother spent the last few weeks of her life on the dementia floor. We were very impressed by the kindness and respect with which all the residents were treated. The way Mother (and we) were cared for at the end of her life was excellent. We are very grateful to all the staff that we can look back on this difficult time with the comfort of knowing that Mum was in the right place and with the right people around her.

This is a very caring care home. It has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. We arranged for a family get-together in the private dining room. The service was excellent and the food was so delicious. It was a happy and relaxed occasion. 5-star food!

Resident’s Wife

Dad’s passing was peaceful, pain-free and dignified. The staff were awesome, so caring, kind and gentle. He passed away in a comfortable bed in a safe and secure and loving environment. I cannot praise and thank the staff and management of Water Mill House enough, it’s a truly caring family atmosphere.

CQC Report Highlights

We are regulated and inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care in England.

Following their visit in 2023, they highlighted the warm, friendly atmosphere at Water Mill House and positive relationships between staff, residents and managers. Comments included: “It’s more like a hotel than a care home.”

The report shared that residents, their relatives and staff spoke positively about their experiences of the service.  With staff demonstrating a good understanding person-centred care and a commitment to the service, their fellow team members and the people they supported.

Residents and relatives told inspectors they felt safe, and that staff cared for them well. Staff were seen to support residents in the least restrictive way possible, giving them maximum control over their own lives.

High-quality Person-centred Care

The CQC report highlighted that the provider and the registered manager demonstrated a strong commitment to good quality person-centred care. They were quick to respond to feedback and there was evidence that information was shared with staff to support learning and to make improvements.

Inspectors noted that the registered manager was clear about her expectations of staff to work in line with the provider’s values, and worked hard to develop the team, providing support to staff who wanted to progress in their career.

Our Approach To Quality

We take a robust and proactive approach to quality monitoring and assurance, using trusted risk, quality and compliance software to support us to continuously improve. In addition to our home’s senior team, we have a regional business manager who is also responsible for monitoring quality standards, with regular visits and reports submitted to senior management as part of our quality assurance processes.

This is bolstered by audits completed by external agencies and bodies. These insights ensure we are transparent and accountable. By combining technology, expertise and independent oversight, we create the safe, welcoming environment that our residents feel proud to call their home.

We are eagerly awaiting the CQC’s return to be able to show them how we addressed the points raised at the time.
