New club for dementia sufferers to open in Bodmin

A new activity club for people living with dementia is set to open in Cornwall soon - a facility which supports both sufferers and their carers.

Based in Bodmin Hall, the club has been formed by Memory Matters and will offer a host of activities which focus on brain exercises, all of which are proven to both limit memory deterioration and improve quality of life. These include calculating, listening to sounds, engaging in current affairs and number and word games.

Not only do the activities on offer help to stimulate the minds of dementia sufferers, they also provide respite for family members who act as carers, allowing them to enjoy shopping or other activities with the peace of mind that their loved one is being well looked after.

The club is a fantastic example of how efforts are being made all over the country to help stimulate those in nursing home care, helping them to feel safe and happy within their environment.
