At Water Mill House, our welcoming day care service provides expert residential, nursing and dementia care in beautiful surroundings. Guests enjoy meaningful days with opportunities to socialise.
Residents help shape the daily activities schedule to meet their needs and interests, featuring live music, art therapy, gentle exercise, pampering, school visits and topical quizzes. Guests can join our popular Knit and Natter and gardening clubs, and minibus outings to local places of interest. Day care provides the perfect opportunity for caregivers to take a break, confident that their loved one is in safe hands.
Each person benefits from a holistic day care plan tailored to their individual needs, preferences and goals. This personalised approach to wellbeing is designed to enrich the day care experience and is the reason our beloved guests return again and again.
What Does A Typical Day Look Like?
Day care visitors have full access to our luxury facilities and grounds. They can enjoy a movie in the cinema, a delicious meal in the bistro, or a treatment in the salon. For those who wish to stay active, we have an on-site gym and our landscaped, accessible gardens with views of the Hertfordshire hills, are the perfect place for a stroll.
Day care guests usually visit regularly, typically arriving at 10am and leaving at 4pm. This includes a hot, two-course lunch, unlimited drinks and snacks, access to entertainment and activities and full use of the facilities. We recommend that hair and spa treatments are booked in advance.
Led by our wonderful home manager, Victoria, our skilled and affectionate team take pride in making the experience as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We understand it may feel daunting trying something new, that’s why we introduce guests to other residents to help them get to know their new surroundings. We are here to answer any questions you may have and are happy to offer professional guidance and support.

How does Day Care Work?
We understand the challenges of caring for an elderly loved one. As rewarding as caregiving can be, it often comes with emotional and physical demands that require time to rest and recharge. Elderly day care ensures your loved one receives expert care, while you have time to catch up on daily life or take a well-earned rest.
At Water Mill House, our day care service offers older adults the chance to experience the warmth and kindness of our dedicated care team. Enjoy companionship, practical support, and engaging activities, in the comfort of our welcoming care home.
Whilst some community day care centres require a referral from a relative, GP or a self-referral, we don’t. As a private care home, our placements are subject to a care needs assessment to make sure we can provide the support you need. To find out more, contact our friendly team for a chat.
